Gatang Tulingan #LutongTatay

I have been wanting to start a blog series of different dishes I cooked and give a hashtag #LutongTatay

My wife always says she cook, but I always do the cooking, hahaha. Anyways, she is too busy with the kids and her work, she is taking work and watching kids too seriously so I'd rather be the one to cook in our household, I enjoy doing it. I also love serving my family delicious foods.

My wife loves gata dishes big time, so I thought to prepare Gatang Tulingan for her.

Gatang Tulingan Recipe

1/2 kilo Tulingan Fish, cleaned
1 sachet Gata/Coconut mix dissolved in water
3 cloves of garlic
1 medium-sized onion sliced
1 medium-sized ginger sliced
3-4 long green chili peppers (siling haba)
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups vinegar
cooking oil


  1. Saute garlic, onion, and ginger. 
  2. Pour dissolved coconut milk, 
  3. Add long green pepper, and salt to taste.
  4. Add the tulingan fish.
  5.  Let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes
  6. Put on a serving plate and serve.

Filipino translation:

  1. Igisa ang bawang, sibuyas, at luya. 
  2. Ihalo ang tinunaw na coconut or gata mix 
  3. Ihalo ang sili haba, asin at paminta.
  4. Hayaang maluto mula 15 - 20 minuto
  5. Hintayin hanggang maging malapot ang sabaw.
  6. Ilagay sa serving plate at iserve.
